February 19

Hi Friends,

I’m writing to you after one heckavu weekend. A trip to Bloomington to celebrate Bro. Stephen’s record release and track a new single also resulted in one of the highest concentrations of good people in history, and BFF hangouts to last for years. Perhaps I exaggerate, but it was certainly wonderful.

It was really special to be able to attend the show and celebrate the release of Baptist Girls, as Scott Kirkpatrick of Bro. Stephen is a dear friend and one of my favorite songwriters of all time. I remember when he first began tracking the record over two years ago, and it’s been on heavy rotation since I pre-ordered a copy this past December. Do yourself a favor and pick it up from the good folks at XRA records if you haven’t already.

Zachary and I also hit the Sound Workshop to record our wintertime single, “Old Friend.” We tracked drums, guitar and vocals live, which was a new experience for me and also pretty neat. I’d recorded guest vocals for th’Empires there so it was easy to get in to the groove and within the afternoon we’d banged out a song. I’ll have it out in the world by the end of the month!

Don’t forget to subscribe to my youtube channel to keep up with my progress during this February Album Writing Month!

With Love, LKB
